What do all these meals have in common?
It’s not just that they’re all delicious and satisfying. All of them have been prepared by someone in our church family and delivered to someone else in our church family in an act of brotherly and sisterly love as a part of the Meal Ministry at ANew.
During difficult times it can be easy to be overwhelmed. Things that are normally a simple part of your day, like preparing meals, can become hard to manage or even forgotten entirely. At times, like these, seeing a friendly face and receiving a meal can be an amazing encouragement.
That’s why at All Saints ANew we have the Meal Ministry. Not only does this ministry provide a way for those in our church community who are experiencing challenges to be helped in a practical way, it gives others a chance to share God’s love with their brothers and sisters and this means that it can be a blessing to everyone involved.
Some examples of times when people might benefit from the Meal Ministry include…
- Illness of oneself or others in the family.
- A new baby!
- Death of a loved one.
- Moving house.
Some recipients sign up to receive three or four meals a week over a number of weeks, whereas others might prefer to receive a small number of frozen meals just to help get them over the “hump”.
If you or someone you know in our church community is going through a tumultuous period and you feel that the Meal Ministry might be able to help, then please send the details to the Care Ministry team by clicking here and the Meal Ministry team will be informed.
If you’d like to contribute to the Meal Ministry then you would be most welcome to join the team!
There’s no need to have gourmet chef skills. In Matthew 10:42 Jesus Himself tells us…
And anyone who gives one of my most humble followers a cup of cool water, just because that person is my follower, will be rewarded.
So if the gift of even a cool cup of water is approved of by our saviour, then anything ranging from an easy to prepare light meal to a carefully constructed fine dining delight is certainly going to please both our Lord and the receiver!
Note that if you decide to join the team, it’s not compulsory to participate in every meal program. In addition, if you’re able to cook something but you’re not in a position to deliver it then the meal coordinators are able to arrange help in getting meals from you to the recipients.
Another way people help the Meal Ministry is to make a few meals that can be placed in some disposable takeaway containers, labelled with all the ingredients and then frozen to add to the stock of emergency meals that can be given out at short notice.
If you’d like the opportunity to participate in the Meal Ministry then please let the Care Ministry team know by clicking here.
