More to Discover

Our church has run a number of sessions of the Discover course which talks about the important questions of who Jesus is and God’s plans for us. This course is run in an environment where people are free to ask questions and where we have open discussions about any topic. (And there’s a lovely free dinner provided which isn’t a bad way to start the evening is it?)

But learning about Jesus and what He’s done for us doesn’t end after one course. A small group has been meeting to follow up our most recent Discover Course in some sessions called “More to Discover”.

Let me tell you, the questions and discussion in our latest sessions have been absolutely fascinating. Here’s some of the topics we’ve already discussed.

How do I know that what the Bible says is true?

What’s the difference between Christianity and all the other religions? Why shouldn’t I just pick one of them?

If I believe in Jesus and I get my sins forgiven, then can’t I just keep on sinning and doing whatever I like?

How do I let Jesus know that I want to trust in Him? How do I tell Jesus about my problems and ask for His help?

What about people like murderers and other criminals? Can Jesus forgive them as well?

These are the sorts of topics and questions that people should be thinking about when someone tells them the amazing news that not only does God love them, but that His son died to save them! These are the sorts of questions that even people who have been coming to church for years wonder about as well, and it’s a good thing to talk about them and ponder them!

This is what the Discover course and the More to Discover sessions are all about. They are an opportunity for people to not only learn about what the Bible tells us about Jesus, but it’s a time to ask tough questions and flesh out topics that people might have niggling doubts about for years but just never had an opportunity to talk about them.

If you’d like to come along to the next Discover course then click here to let us know or ask any questions and we’d love to talk about it with you.

Please pray that our future Discover and More to Discover sessions are honest and open discussions about what the Bible tells us about God’s love for us, God’s plan for us and the amazing Good News about what Jesus has done for us.
