Church Accessibility

Our church has recently undergone a major renovation and upgrade. Some of the new features include a new area for children’s ministry, an updated audio visual system and a kitchenette where food can be prepared and served.

But one of the most exciting new aspects of the renovated church is the focus on accessibility which will allow more people to feel comfortable both attending and participating in the life of the church. In this post we’ll highlight some of these features.

Wheelchair ramp at the main entrance

The first feature that people may notice as they arrive at church is the new wheelchair ramp and multiple hand rails. Our hope is that these will make entering the church much safer and convenient for those who are not comfortable with steps.

Flat alternate entry and exit to garden and the street

In addition to the main entrance, there is also now an alternate entrance/exit which provides a wide, flat path between the front of the church and the street via a gate. This new door also provides access to the fenced off grassy area where other events such as barbecues and picnics are sometimes held.

Ramp leading to the raised presentation area

A particularly exciting aspect of the interior redesign is the addition of a ramp leading to the front stage / sanctuary area. This means that all people are more easily able to participate in the presentation aspects of our service such as reading the Bible or leading prayers.

Accessible bathroom including change table and shower

There are three new toilets located at the back of the church including one ambulant toilet and one accessible toilet. The accessible toilet also includes a baby change table and a shower. Having the toilets at the back of the church means that guests are able to discreetly make use of the facilities without disturbing others.

We have installed an upgraded hearing loop system which covers the floor space of the main church area.

For those who are unable to attend a service in person we broadcast our 5pm Sunday evening service online via Zoom and we record and publish our most recent sermons for online listening at any time.

At All Saints ANeW, we believe that all people are created in God’s image, all people need Christ’s salvation and all people need a relationship with God. Therefore, we want to make attending our church as easy as possible and we want all people feel welcome.

So no matter who you are or what your circumstances are, we would love for you to join us next Sunday!
