When it comes to raising money for a good cause, most people’s approach is a Bunnings Barbecue….But what if there was some way to cut out the middle man and sell sausages yourself without harassing people who actually just wanted to buy paint or nails?
Well the enterprising youth at our church managed to do just that after our 10am and 5pm services last Sunday to help raise funds for their upcoming travels to the 2026 Katoomba Youth Convention (KYCK) being held from the 25th to the 27th of September.
Cinta and an impressive member of our youth gave a presentation detailing why our youth were travelling to KYCK. When asked to give his impressions about his previous visit to Katoomba Youth Convention he replied that it was “muddy” but despite that he was still keen to attend. (Cinta was quick to point out that this year’s camping would be “indoor camping”!)
Katoomba Youth Convention (KYCK) is a conference for high schoolers. Thousands of students gather in Katoomba to have fun, meet new friends and most importantly to hear God’s Word.
This year’s theme is the story of Jonah, which is not just a story about a fish who swallows a grumpy old man then burps him up 3 days later, but is the story of God’s unrelenting grace and mercy.
We will be praying that this weekend is a wonderful encouragement for the young people of our Church and for their safety as they travel there and back.
