The desire for purpose lies deep in our hearts.

Often it dwells below the surface, as we sail through life from one day to the next.

But sometimes it raises its head, and we’re forced to confront it.

What is my meaning?

What is my purpose?

What am I really gaining in life?

Some look for the answer in their career, or success and achievement.

Some live life in search of fun, significant experiences or travel.

Others look for meaning in relationship with others,

or in expressing their innermost selves.

But often we feel these things fail to deliver.

So we move on to the next job, long for the next experience, or look for the next relationship.

Perhaps we can even identify with these words…

“Meaningless, meaningless!

What do people gain from all their labours,

at which they toil under the sun?”

~ Ecclesiastes chapter 1~

Jesus knew our deep need for meaning.

He understood the goodness of work, of experiences, of relationships and identity.

But he also knew they pointed to a deeper source of meaning and significance.

A fulfilment which satisfies in every circumstance.

And he came so we could have it in abundance.

“I have come that they may have life,

and have it to the full.”

~ Jesus, in John chapter 10 ~

In August we’re running a course called KNOWING JESUS.

We’ll explore the life Jesus came to bring, by looking at how he lived and what he said.

He made huge claims to know what life is really about.

So come and see what you think.

The course runs for 5 sessions, and each one covers a different aspect of knowing Jesus.

1. What does Jesus have to offer? (on Zoom)

2. Seeing ourselves clearly

3. Love and Jesus’ sacrifice

4. The imperishable life

5. Living with Jesus

Each session runs for about an hour, with a mix of chatting, listening, and time for questions:

Welcome (5 mins)

Intro Question (5 mins) something general to stir our thoughts about the topic of the night.

Short talk (15 mins) everyone together

Discussion (20 mins) in small groups, facilitated by one of our friendly group leaders.

Q & A (10 mins) a chance to ask absolutely anything about Jesus, perhaps a question that arose during the session, or something else entirely.

If you’d like to come along, please register your interest using the button below. We’ll send you details to log in. You’re more than welcome to just try the first session and see what it’s like. Or if you have any questions, send them through and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
